Congratulations to our new adopted authors!

In case you missed it, Griffin Free has started a great program called Adopt-an-Author. And we are proud to announce that one wonderful Auburn resident has chosen to adopt Patricia Cornwell and Barbara Kingsolver! Every time one of those authors publishes a new book, we will acquire them immediately upon publication, allow the proud new parent first chance to check them out, and include a bookplate in each book honoring the donation. In exchange, the parent will pay for the books at discounted library prices at the time of checkout.

The purpose of this program is to help Griffin Free stretch the limited budget for acquiring new books. For every book by a popular author that is donated through Adopt-an-Author, the library is able to add additional books that might not make the best seller lists – such as non-fiction, critically acclaimed and award-winning novels, and new authors (who may be tomorrow’s big sellers). In turn, the library’s collection grows bigger and stronger, and you get a better selection of new materials to choose from.

We appreciate that someone has chosen to be the initial program sponsor. If you are interested in following in their philanthropic footsteps, check out the link above, or check in with a member of our staff.

Thanks for being a part of Griffin Free!
