As some of you may have heard, Griffin Free has been chosen by a prospective Eagle Scout to receive the benefits of his Eagle Scout Project. Our Scout will be creating an outdoor reading area on the southwest corner of the building (outside the children’s room). It will be open to all library users once installed!
The reading area will be fenced off and landscaped, with part of the area covered with paving stones. Included in his work for this project will be leveling the ground and installing the fence, stones, and other material. There will also be benches and/or tables in the area for public use. On top of that work, the Scout is responsible for raising the funds for the project.
We are very honored to have been chosen for this project, and we wish to fully support this Scout in his efforts to provide a valuable space for the residents of Auburn to use.
At Griffin Free, we have full details and plans for this project available for the public to view at any time. Donations toward the cost of the project are also accepted at the library.
We also wish to promote the first of the fundraisers for this project. Shorty’s in Manchester is offering a slice of their receipts all day this Sunday, April 7th, to this project. You can dine in or carry out, but you need to mention Griffin Free Public Library to your server in order to have the proceeds donated. We certainly hope your plans permit you to enjoy a nice meal out on Sunday and to help our Scout and Griffin Free Public Library in the process. Thanks!
