All the Ways to Renew Your Materials

For all I write on griffinfree.com about programs and special services and events, it still remains that regular checkout of library materials is our biggest business. So, in the name of making that regular use of library materials as easy for all of our users as possible, here are the rules on renewing items, and a definitive list of all the ways to renew.

Rules: All items check out for 2 weeks. You can renew each item up to 2 times unless it is on hold for another user. Renewals do not add onto the end of existing due dates; they make your new due date 2 weeks from the day of the renewal (so to get maximum time with your items, renew them as close to the due date as you can).

How to Renew:

  • At the library: if you have available renewals, you don’t even need the items! Just bring your library card or photo ID, and we’ll handle it for you! (If you are out of renewals, please bring the items back. If no one has a hold, you will be allowed to check the item out again right away).
  • Over the phone: have your card number ready, and give us a call at 483-5374. If we are closed, leave a short message asking us to renew, and be sure to give your card number. We will make sure it is done as soon as we re-open.
  • By email: send an email with your name and card number to staff@griffinfree.com or director@griffinfree.com and put “renew” or “renewal” in the subject line.
  • Online account access: this is the only way to handle renewals yourself. Get your username and password on your next visit to Griffin Free, and learn how to log into your account through this website, where you can see the status of your current checkouts, and renew your items from home, work, your mobile device, or any location with a computer and internet access any time, any day.

We hope this is a good reminder and appreciate any recommendations for other topics to cover here on griffinfree.com. Thank you for being a part of Griffin Free!
