Local and Regional History at Griffin Free

Our newest collection at the library…is really one of our oldest! We have compiled our collection of NH town histories, regional histories and information, Auburn records, and items of local interest into a new “Local and Regional History and Resources” collection. It is housed in our front room with the adult non-fiction, along the uppermost shelf.

Due to the age and condition of many of the items in the collection, use is limited to in-house only. Our copier is available for those needing sections or pages to examine outside of library hours or for their own information.

We hope this section will be beneficial to anyone interested in learning more about Auburn and other New Hampshire communities, regional history, local genealogy, and more. In addition to the volumes on the shelf, we have a wide collection of Auburn Town Reports – dating back many decades – that you can look at here at the library (just ask one of our staff).

If you have questions about this collection, please let us know. If you are interested in helping us expand this collection with a donation, please contact library director Ricky Sirois by calling 483-5374 or emailing

Thank you for helping Griffin Free be a part of Auburn’s great history, and its bright future!
